Welcome to Peru (Lima)

If you arrive late, you will overnight at the Ramada. The Ramada is right at the airport so you will just walk to the hotel after clearing Customs. If you are arriving earlier in the day, we can accomodate you in Miraflores Park Hotel (Orient Express).

Lima – Arequipa

Transfer or a quick walk (depending on hotel choice) to the airport. On arrival in Arequipa you will be met and transferred to your hotel. In the afternoon we will take you on a Private City Tour visiting the Santa Catalina Monesteria and the Museum that holds the well known girl – mummy, Juanita.

Arequipa – Colca Canyon

We will pick you up at your hotel to begin our journey to one of the deepest canyons in the world! Taking the highway from Yura, bordering the snow – covered Chachani Mountain onwards to Cañahuas Pampas (natural reserve of vicuñas), where we will see these graceful camelids going through high Andean lands. We are also able to see a huge variety of migratory bird’s enroute including Flamingos.

We will pass through the crater of an extinct volcano (Chucura). We stop to admire of the beauty of the area, which is also the highest point on our trip (4,800 m.a.s.l). We arrive into Chivay at approximately 1.30pm where we stop at a restaurant for lunch.

We continue our trip in the afternoon around driving up to the colourful village of Coporaque, from where we will start an approximated long walk of 2 hours to be able to enjoy the surrounding nature and beautiful landscapes of this valley, as well as of a pre – Inca cemetery. After this we return to our hotel where we can enjoy dinner and the natural hot springs there.

Colca Canyon – Chivay – Puno (Lake Titicaca)

We have an early departure at 6am to the viewpoint of Condor Cross (Cruz del Cndor) where we can observe the majestic condor in flight. On our return we stop in the towns of Pinchollo, Maca and Yanque that have beautiful colonial churches.

We also stop enroute for lunch in Chivay and afterwards connect with our group transportation to Puno (Lake Titicaca). The journey takes around 6 hours in total and we will leave you at your hotel.

Lake Titicaca

An early start as today we take a boat out to the Floating Islands of Uros and to the Isle of Taquile where we will learn about the traditions of the islanders. Here you will also find beautiful woven goods that you will not find anywhere else in Peru! We return to the Port late afternoon and transfer to your hotel.

Puno – Juliaca (Airport) – Cusco

We transfer you to Juliaca Airport today – a 45min drive – for your flight to Cusco. On arrival in Cusco our Team Pachamama will meet you and transfer to your hotel.
You have the rest of the day to relax and enjoy the marvels of Cusco!

This morning we pick you up at your hotel for a Private City Tour. We will visit the most important sites around the City – The Cathedral, Koricancha “Temple of the Sun”, Tambomachay “Temple of the Water”, Pukupukara “Red Fort”, Qenqo “Maze”, Sacsayhuaman “Pumas Head”.

The tour lasts approximately 4 hours and terminates in the Plaza de Armas.

Sacred Valley

Today our Guide & Driver will meet you at your hotel and take you on the Personalized Itineraries of the Sacred Valley. We will first stop at the cultural village of Awanacancha where you can, if you wish, interact with a variety of camilids (llamas, alpacas, vicunas). Here you will see ladies doing traditional weavings and you can also learn about the process. There is a fine, exclusive shop onsite.

We continue onwards to Pisac Market & Ruins. We will walk in the area of the ruins for around 1 hour. From here we make our way to Urubamba where we take lunch in Los Tres Keros Restaurant – delicious Peruvian food! Afterwards we take you to your hotel to check in and enjoy the rest of the day in their lovely surroundings!

Sacred Valley – Aguas Calientes

We pick you up and transfer to the train station at Ollantaytambo from where you take the Vistadome Train Service to Aguas Calientes. Guide onboard. Upon arrival you transfer to your hotel (quick walk) and check in.

You have the rest of the day at leisure to enjoy the grounds of this beautiful hotel.

Aguas Calientes – Sacred Valley – Cusco

Today we board our Vistadome Train back to Ollantaytambo. We leisurely make our way back to Cusco. With your private guide we will visit the off – the – beaten – track sites of Moray “Inca Greenhouse” and the ancient saltworks of Salineras.

Our final site is the market town of Chincheros. Here you will visit the colonnial church and the inca terracing. We continue back to Cusco and transfer back to your hotel.

Cusco – Puerto Maldonado

We transfer you to the airport for your 30 – minute flight to Puerto Maldonado. On arrival you will be met by a staff member of Inkaterra, Reservas Amazonicas. We will then visit the Butterfly House before making our way to the boarding wharf from where we travel via long boat for around 45 minutes before arriving at the lodge. You will be welcomed and shown to your room.

Enjoy the Trail System adventure and the Twilight River excursion.

On this guided afternoon boat ride, you will witness the enchanting transformation from a diurnal to a nocturnal environment, as animals and birds of the daytime are replaced by species specially adapted to the night. As you enjoy their paradise, you will learn about their habits while searching for nightjars, owls, capybaras and caimans. In addition, on a clear night the southern hemisphere stars can be appreciated. Dinner is served at the main dining room. Overnight.

Puerto Maldonado

You have a very early breakfast starting at 5am. We take an excursion to Lake Sandoval – a 30 – minute boat ride takes you to the Tambopata National Reserve, where wildlife surrounds you as you enjoy the one and a half hour walk along three kilometers of trails to reach Lake Sandoval. Glide in a wooden canoe, across a beautiful, mirror – like oxbow lake that is home to the endangered giant river otter, as well as red howler monkeys, macaws, prehistoric hoatzins, also called “shanshos”, anacondas, point – tailed palm creepers and side – neck turtles. You will spend two hours on the lake, looking at all is has to offer.

In the afternoon you enjoy the Inkaterra Canopy Walkway & Anaconda Walk. A 5 – minute boat ride takes you to the Inkaterra Canopy Interpretation Center. After ascending the first tower, at 29 meters above the forest floor, you will literally walk through the treetops for one – and – a – half hours along suspension bridges that link eight observation platforms.

Enjoy landscapes and vistas that would be unimaginable from below, while on the look – out for giant strangler fig trees, orchids, toucans, woodpeckers, trogons and –with luck – monkeys or sloths. After your descent from the Canopy, experience the Anaconda Walk for about 30 minutes along the 200 – meter wooden bridge over the Aguajales swamps.

In this lush eco system, you may observe the various species of amphibians, serpents, birds, mammals and abundant flora and trees of this flooded marshland. The walk finishes by returning to the lodge. Dinner and overnight.

Puerto Maldonado – Lima (via Cusco)

You will have breakfast and then return by boat to Puerto Maldonado. You check into your flight bound for Lima via Cusco (a quick 30 – min stop, remain onboard ).

On arrival in Lima you will be met and transferred to your hotel. Rest of day at leisure.

Lima – Home

Today you have a Private City Tour visiting sites of Modern and Colonnial Lima. The tour will last approx. 3 hours and you will be returned to your hotel afterwards. You have the rest of your time to explore Miraflores before we collect you for your late flight back home.
