Your guide will meet you at the hotel this morning and we continue further exploring the Sacred Valley. We start make our way to the little town of Maras which is the gateway to the Inca circular terraces of Moray commonly referred to as the “Inca Greenhouse” due to the fact that it is believed these terraces were used to experiment with growing crops at various levels of altitude. From here we visit the ancient saltworks of Salineras where salt is still being farmed using the age-old techniques and finally descend back into the valley to visit the pretty Andean town of Ollantaytambo and its impressive ruins.  Return to Urubamba for the night.

Upon leaving Chachabamba the path ascends into a forest and much needed shade. We reach a magnificent waterfall and shortly afterwards arrive at the beautiful Inca construction of Wiñay Wayna (‘Forever Young’). We have lunch close to a small hostel, and after taking a short break our journey continues to Inti Punku (‘the Sun Gate’) from where we have our first impressive view of Machupicchu.  After taking in the view we take the bus to the town of Aguas Calientes where we spend the night.
