Cusco – Sacred Valley – Aguas Calientes
This morning you will be met by your Private Guide and Driver who will take you out to the Sacred Valley. Enroute we will stop at the cultural village of Awanacancha where you can see a variety of camelids (llamas, alpacas, vicunas) that you can feed and interact with. Also onsite are ladies making fine alpaca weavings. This is a great information centre about Andean life! From here we travel to Pisac Market where we wander around the various stalls and if you get a chance, sample an Empanada! They are delicious! We now travel up the ruins above the town. On a good day you have beautiful views over the valley. We will walk in the area of the ruins for around 1 hour and your Guide will tell you all about the various civilisations that inhabited this area over many years. From here we make our way to Urubamba, the main town in the valley, where we take lunch in a touristic restaurant.
Onwards we travel towards the pretty Andean village of Ollantaytambo where we visit its spectacular ruins perched on the hillside. After the tour we make our way to the train station where you take the Vistadome train to Aguas Calientes. On arrival its a short walk to your hotel where you rest up for the evening. Perhaps take a dip in the hot springs tonight!
We rise early to catch sunrise over Machupicchu! Your Guide will collect you from the hotel and together you take the bus up to the ruins. You will have a 2-hour guided tour and afterwards leisure time to explore on your own! When you are ready you take any bus back down to the town for your lunch.
In the afternoon we take the train back to Ollantaytambo from where we transfer you in Private Vehicle back to your hotel in Cusco.
Your Private Guide and Driver will meet you at your hotel this morning and take you on a wonderful Private City Tour visiting the most important sites of Cusco (The Cathedral, Koricancha “Temple of the Sun”, Tambomachay “Temple of the Water”, Pukupukara “Red Fort”, Qenqo “The Maze” and the very impressive site of Sacsayhuaman.
The tour lasts around 4 hours and afterwards we drop you back off at your hotel. Afternoon at leisure to explore the many cobbled streets of Cusco, pop in at some markets, perhaps explore the food market of San Pedro!
