Peru Tour Reviews

My experience of Peru through Pachamama Explorers was outstanding. I travelled alone and coordinated my itinerary with them prior to my trip. They booked all my hotels, transportation, guides and tours. I never had to call them during the three week journey. All contacts arrived according to plan, on time, smiling and speaking English – ready to connect me with transport & tours or provide me with private guides. I recommend them to anyone who wants an authentic experience of Peru, knowledgeable guides and hassle free travel. Their staff has integrity, dedication and professional manners. I am grateful for their service.

My husband and I used Pachamama Explorers for our Incan Trail hike this past July. We had such an incredible experience. From the prepared meals to the knowledge of our guide, we were continuously impressed by our trip. Even when one of our group members became ill, our guide and staff were extremely professional about handling the situation. I highly recommend using Pachamama for your future South American adventures. I know I will!

Pachama Explorers was outstanding from beginning to end of our trip to Machu Picchu and the Galapagos Islands. They handled all our arrangement seamlessly and were on hand to deal with a small emergency, working over the holiday to make sure we had a hotel and would be able to get to Machu Picchu. They also found an amazing yacht for us to tour the Galapagos for eight days. Our ship, the Golondrina I was a little smaller than some of the others, but the staff was amazing, the islands and snorkeling exquisite and our shipmates very interesting. Plus is was within our budget. Pachama was always in contact with us to make sure things were going smoothly. I hope we will be able to use them again for more explorations of Peru and the surrounding area.

We took the 2D/1N tour to Machu Picchu in June with Pachamama Explorers and everything went extremely well. Jose was our guide and he was great. I would definitely recommend this company. It was amazing trip and Machu Picchu was the highlight! Thank you!

We contacted PMExplorers by email a couple of months before we left for Peru. Debbie suggested a great itinerary to fit in with our (quite complicated) needs. We travelled all round Peru. The trip was fantastic and made particularly wonderful by the wonderful service provided by PME. We were picked up on time and delivered to hotels on time throughout our travels. Once, when there was an internal flight delay of 24 hours, we were at the airport discussing options with the airline, when a security guard came and found us and passed us his mobile phone. It was PME on the phone, they had checked on line and discoverer the flight delay. They sent a rep round to the airport immediately to help us sort out the flights and adjust our itinerary. That was so reassuring and they acted so fast!
I would highly recommend PME to any traveller to Peru.

My family of four – wife, daughters ages 14 and 16, and I – spent five days in Cusco and Machu Picchu.Pachamama Explorers arranged all of our land activities from pickup at the airport, purchase of passes to Machu Picchu, bus tickets from train station to Machu Picchu, and private tours. I cannot say enough good things about their service. The guides were first rate. The driver always arrived early even when we had a 4 AM departure. We had to make a last-minute adjustment, arriving in Peru one day later than expected, and Debbie was able to accommodate us on very short notice. I have a significant health problem and the guide at Machu Picchu was incredibly helpful, providing assistance to me as we hiked through the ruins. we have traveled the world and hired private tour is in the past, and Pachamama Explorers was the best we have experienced anywhere.

My friends and I were beyond pleased with the Pachamama Explorers company! We hiked the Inca Trail (4 days). Our interactions with the company in booking the trip was excellent. They were very responsive to questions and were super organized. The whole trip went without a hitch! Our guide was amazing and so friendly. He was great motivational support for the hard parts of the trail. We all felt like family by the end of the trip. Our porters were very speedy and took great care of us. The most surprising thing was how gourmet our food was! We were expecting typical camping food, but were eating like kings! Our group could tell that there was a difference between other companies on the trail and the Pachamama company. This company was a much higher quality than the others. Don´t choose any other company than this!

Deborah Phillip and Odon (our guide) were wonderful throughout the planning process for our visit to the Sacred Valley. During the months leading up to our trip, Deborah was so helpful in deciding which sites to visit based on the time we had to visit the Sacred Valley. She was even able to arrange for our tour to end at the Ollantaytambo train station so that we could visit Machu Picchu the next day. Odon, our guide, was friendly, informative, patient, and helpful. We truly enjoyed our day in the Sacred Valley and saw all the important sites including Moray, Salineras, and Urubamba. Thank you, again, for an unforgettable day.

It appears everyone has thought he or she had the best Inca Trail guide ever. We will add Emilio to that list. Our entire experience with PM Explorers was fantastic. Emilio was very professional making sure each of the five of us (mostly seniors) safely completed the hike. He was very knowledgeable and could probably teach an Inca history course at a local university. From the briefing at our B&B in Cusco, to the wonderful, eager to please porters, to our 20 year old cook’s wonderful meals, Pachamama Explorers was top notch. I highly recommend making this experience of a lifetime even better by using PM Explorers as your outfitter. Our guide Christian was fantastic and extremely informative and fun during the entire trip. His 16 years of experience and knowledge of the area and history of the people is unmatched. He had answers to every question we had about the history and current culture of the land. Most importantly he was friendly and made the trek fun.Our chef Amilcar kept us well fed with breakfasts, lunches, snacks, and dinner. The food he prepared was easily the best we had during our stay in Peru.We highly recommend using Pachamama and would suggest you requesting Christian as your guide if possible.

My wife and I booked our Inka Trail trek through Pachamama Explorers. We went on the four-day, three-night trek. We booked well in advance (December for an April trip). We can’t say enough about our experience with PM Explorers. They had a very helpful information brief the day before the trip to go over the route, discuss gear, tell us about health issues, facilities along the way, how much money to bring, expected weather, etc. Everything about the trip and PM Explorer’s operation was totally professional. The guides were fluent in English an Spanish, there were nightly briefs about the next day’s weather, route, meeting points, safety, and sites. The porters were incredible and really nice. Our guide, Gerson, was the best guide we’ve had for anything we’ve ever done. He made a great trip perfect. He was always upbeat, fun, funny, informative, always making sure everyone was healthy and as comfortable as possible…he was just incredible. I don’t know how many guides work for PM Explorer; the others are probably also very good. But if you use this company, ask to have Gerson (pronounced Jason) as your guide. The food was delicious, too. Each day included breakfast, lunch, tea, and dinner. The meals were really healthy and well thought out. I’m vegetarian, and the veg alternative meals were just as good as the meat options. All in all, our experience win PM Explorers couldn’t have been better. We highly recommend the company and would 100% use it again if possible.
