When Paceños "residents of the city" want to escape the high-altitude chill of La Paz, they head down into the steamy Yungas of Bolivia, a rainforest region not far outside the city but about 3000 meters nearer to sea level. The sleepy town of Coroico in the heart of the Yungas has long been a favorite weekend destination for Paceños, appreciated for its exotic fruit, great coffee and balmy weather.
Collection Time from Hotel: 7.30am
The adventure begins early morning with collection from your hotel.
We head east of La Paz which is the side of the snow mountains. We arrive at the highest point of our trip, ´´La Cumbre¨ which lies at 4670masl - here we can take scenic photos of the Andes range. You may see adrenalin junky bikers taking the "Worlds most dangerous bike road" from here!
We have to follow the same road down to Coroico! We will stop for a while to walk a little bit and take pictures of the incredible landscape from the boca y sapo view point, Chuspipata, El Balconcillo.
We continue downhill on the road passing by many waterfalls. We will have an opportunity to visit or see the real coca plantations which belongs to a local family.
Finally, we arrive at Coroico where we will have a delicious local lunch. Sip yungueñitos, the local cocktail of singani, fresh orange juice, sugar, and ice!
Later on we head back to La Paz, this time taking a new road which takes around 2.5hrs back to the city.
