A great addition to your trip to Cusco – perfect for nature lovers! This hike offers you beautiful scenery, exotic fauna and flora with the backdrop of the snow peaks of Huamantay and Salkantay. This hike is part of the popular Salkantay Trek – we visit the campsite of Soraypampa where we will start our ascent to the Huamantay lake (4200 masl / 13 779 ft).

Pick Up Time from your hotel in Cusco: 4.30am
A very early start! We collect you from your hotel in Cusco and start our journey out to the village of Mollepata (2.5 hours drive). We stop here and have some breakfast in a local restaurant before we start our hike to Soraypampa (4,000masl).The path ascends moderately for around 1.5 hours until we reach Humantay Lake (4,300masl).
This beautiful turquoise lake is surrounded by steep peaks and an impressive glacier. The dominant peak is that of Mnt Salkantay, one of Peru’s most sacred mountains, a snow mountain towering 20,600 feet with pyramid like features.
The equally impressive Humantay Peak, rising 19,412 feet, is also within view. Shamans and locals alike will often give blessing when reaching the crystal-clear waters of Humantay Lake.
At the shore we relax, enjoy our box lunch, go for a swim (if you are brave!) or give thanks to Pachamama (Mother Earth). When you are ready to hike back down, we will descend to Soraypampa while enjoying the breath taking panoramic views.
We drive back to Cusco and drop you off at your hotel.
